Triveni | Student Clubs & Activities

At UWC Mahindra, clubs and activities are not provided. They are built.

Students propose, plan, and run everything from debate societies to innovation labs to spaces for identity and belonging. Faculty act as mentors, not organisers. If an activity does not exist and a student wants it, the expectation is simple: make it happen.

Student-led by design

The clubs at UWC Mahindra sit within the Triveni Programme, the college's framework for creativity, activity, and service. This means clubs are not optional extras bolted onto academic life. They count. Students engage as participants or leaders, working independently or collaboratively, and are expected to reflect on what they are learning as they go.

The range of activities shifts year to year depending on who is on campus and what they want to build. That is the point. The campus at any given time reflects the current community, not a fixed menu of options.

Student governance

Clubs are one part of student life. Governance is another. UWC Mahindra has a well-developed system through which students participate in running the college itself.

Student governance

The College Assembly

The College Assembly (CA) is the most significant student-led body on campus. It is composed of students and a small number of faculty members. Through the CA, students make decisions with real consequences for the whole community: waste management measures, austerity dinners, and policies that shape how the campus operates. Student representatives have full voting rights.

Campus Committees

Students sit on campus committees covering Food, Health and Safety, Admissions and Advancement, and Residential Life. These are not advisory roles. Students participate in discussions on proposals and vote on behalf of the student body alongside faculty.

College Meetings

Bi-monthly college meetings are student-run and open to the whole community. Students raise proposals, discuss global and campus affairs, and surface concerns. Ideas that require action are passed to committees or the College Assembly.

My experiences facilitating College Meetings for such a diverse group of people have helped me appreciate diversity of thought and opinions. I aspire to continue exploring that in the future, hopefully in relation to international conflicts."

Starting something new

There is no application process to start a club. If a student identifies a gap and can bring people together around it, the college supports them in making it happen. Some of the most distinctive activities on campus began as an individual student's idea in their first year.
